24 outdoor enthusiasts from my community had seven hours to track down a pikeperch somewhere in Hamburg for the cook-off that followed. How they got their fish was entirely up to them – most decided to catch it themselves, which turned out to be a great call that day. In the end there were six pikeperch dishes, a critical jury, and prizes worth over 3,000 euros on the line.
The Hunt for Pikeperch
24 participants, six teams, seven hours on the clock: pikeperch were hunted all across Hamburg, however each team saw fit. In the end, well over 35 fish were landed — a dream day for the whole crew.
The Cook-Off
45 minutes, identical ingredients, and one pikeperch fillet with sauce: every team had to defend their dish in front of a critical jury made up of top chef Igor and myself.
Community & Prizes
Loaded goodie bags with lures from Nays, line from Stroft, and a voucher from Angelcenter Vögler Hamburg, plus prizes worth over 3,000 euros. But in the end, what mattered most was the crew coming together.
